Taxonomic Comments
This record represents the narrow concept of Eriogonum ericifolium following FNA (vol. 5, 2005) which is equivalent to E. ericifolium var. ericifolium of Kartesz (1994). FNA (vol. 5, 2005) raises the three varieties of E. ericifolium to full species level as E. ericifolium, E. pulchrum, and E. thornei. In contrast, Kartesz (1994) treated E. ericifolium in a broad sense with three varieties distinguished: E. ericifolium var. ericifolium, E. ericifolium var. pulchrum, and E. ericifolium var. thornei.
