Flora of North America Editorial Committee (2019) includes Mimulus glabratus var. jamesii and Mimulus glabratus var. oklahomensis in Erythranthe geyeri. Kartesz (1994, 1999) recognized Mimulus glabratus var. jamesii and Mimulus glabratus var. oklahomensis as distinct varieties.
