Rank Reasons
Endemic to California, Monardella stebbinsii is known from only five recently seen occurrences along the North Fork of the Feather River in Plumas County. Mining and transmission line construction could pose threats to this species. There are only about 145 plants of this perennial known in the world. None are fully protected.
Range Extent Comments
California endemic, occurs along the North Fork of the Feather River in Plumas County (Skinner, 1997). The estimated range extent is only 14 sq miles.
Occurrences Comments
Known from eight occurrences; only 4 have been seen in the last twenty years (2005).
Threat Impact Comments
It could possibly be threatened by mining, erosion, and transmission line construction (Bittman 1998). Recent reports also mention erosion associated with timber harvest as a threat.
