This record is for Potentilla multisecta in the broad sense as treated by FNA (2014, vol. 9), occurring in northeastern Nevada and northwestern Utah with populations in eastern Idaho, southwestern Montana, and western Wyoming as "components of an unresolved zone of apparent intergradation." Kartesz (1999) recognizes Potentilla multisecta or sometimes called Potentilla diversifolia var. multisecta as limited to Nevada and Utah.
