Known from 14 extant occurrences in Wyoming (last observed in 2003) and 2 historical records (most recent in 1932).
Threat Impact Comments
There are few direct threats. Some populations could be negatively impacted by gravel quarrying in river bottoms, impoundments and diversions as affecting the hydrological regime. Spread of spotted knapweed and its treatment may be threats.

Habitat

Found on gravel bars in a creek (Gottlieb 1999). "The plants grow on impermanent, raised cobble benches in flat, gravel beds of creeks that flood and churn after spring snowmelt" (Flora of North America Editorial Committee 2006). Occurs with Populus angustifolia (NatureServe Network Database as of July 2017).
