Calochortus concolor occurs on dry, often granitic slopes in chaparral and pine forest in California. There are many collection sites, mostly on public lands that have few threats to its occurrence. This species also is present in Baja, Mexico.
Range Extent Comments
In California, this species occurs from San Diego County north to San Bernardino (Hickman 1993). Most collections in the Consortium of California Herbaria (as of 2007) are from San Diego and Riverside counties. This species also is present in Baja, Mexico.
Occurrences Comments
The number of distinct occurrences is unknown but there are 107 accession records in the Consortium of Herbaria database as of August 2007. The majority of records are from the Peninsular Ranges - the Cuyamaca-Laguna Mountain region and the San Jacinto Mountain region. 39 records or 36.45% have been collected since 1970.
