Amsonia hubrichtii occurs in Arkansas and Oklahoma. In Arkansas, the species is known from fifty-seven occurrences in seven counties. All but one of the occurrences fall within the Ouachita Mountains Natural Division and the other occurrence falls within the Arkansas Valley Natural Division. Approximately 48 of the 57 recorded occurrences are on land managed by the Ouachita National Forest, typically within riparian corridors and greenbelts. Populations are considered to be stable and unthreatened.

In Arkansas, occurs in seven counties (Logan, Scott, Yell, Perry, Montogomery, Garland, and Saline Counties). Also occurs in Oklahoma (Cindy Osborne, Personal communication 1999).
