Rank Reasons
Arctostaphylos malloryi is endemic to California and is known from Colusa, Shasta and Trinity counties. It is also expected in Glenn and Tehama counties (CNPS 2001). It occurs in chaparral, lower montane coniferous forest on volcanic soils between 800 and 1200 meters in elevation (CNPS 2001). Finally, while it is considered rare by the California Native Plant Society it is found in sufficient enough numbers and distributed widely enough that the potential for extinction is low as the current time; they also do not consider it very endangered (CNPS 2001).
