Range Extent1000-5000 square km (about 400-2000 square miles)
Number of Occurrences21 - 80
Rank Reasons
Endemic to the Uinta Basin in eastern Uintah County, Utah, and immediately adjacent Colorado, where it is locally abundant in large colonies. This species occurs on soils that are high in selenium and is considered an edaphic endemic, and indicator of selenium. Information is needed on the condition of the occurrences, as well as threat data. Some populations are on lands subject to mineral and oil exploration and development, and others are threatened by road construction.
Range Extent Comments
Endemic to Uintah County, Utah, and adjacent Colorado. The extent of occurrence was calculated to be 2,400 sq km in 2017, based on herbarium specimens in the Intermountain Herbarium Network, SEINet 2018.
Threat Impact Comments
Industrial development and mineral exploration threaten this species. Additionally, this species is threatened by road and bridge construction (Colorado Rare Plant Guide, 2015).
