Scattered throughout the Great Basin in dry shrublands. No abundance data available. Well documented in the southern part of its range, although information about northern range (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) is sparce.
Range Extent Comments
In California (Cactus Flats, Mojave Desert and Great Basin; also Washington state (Hickman 1993). Scattered throughout Nevada and noted from the Kawich Range to the Nevada Test Site and Chiatovicj Creek; also Nye, Esmerelda and Washoe Counties. Oregon and Idaho. (Kartesz 1988). Utah (Beaver, Iron, Washington, and Piute Counties (Welsh et al. 1993).
Occurrences Comments
3 known sites in southwest Utah (Albee et al. 1988).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Dry, open to branchy slopes, flats, and roadsides on sandy soil with Artemisia to pinyon-juniper. Commonly found growing sympatrically with Camissonia parvula and Camissonia pubens (Kartesz 1988). Mixed desert shrub, sagebrush, and mountain brush communities at ca. 1220 to 1830 m (Welsh, 1993).
