This species is limited to moderate to high elevations in rocky areas of the Cascade Mountains (its range is from southern British Columbia to central Oregon). It appears to be somewhat uncommon but also largely unthreatened.
Range Extent Comments
Cascade Range from southern British Columbia and Mount Baker, Washington, south to Three Sisters Peaks Oregon (Abrams, 1951).
Occurrences Comments
Approximately 20 Washington State collections at University of Washington and about 15 EOs from Oregon and British Columbia.
Threat Impact Comments
Locations, at least in Washington State, are reasonably secure, e.g., found in North Cascades National Park, 3 research natural areas, and various national forests (J. Gammon, pers. comm., 2006).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Rock ledges and crevices in perpendicular cliffs and on other rocky slopes. Generally 1030-2190 m elevation but as low as 180 m in Columbia River Gorge of Oregon.
