Rank Reasons
Ceanothus pinetorum is endemic to California and is known from Inyo, Kern, and Tulare counties (CNPS 2001). Hickman (1993) reports this species as æuncommonÆ and the California Native Plant Society indicates that it is rare, but that it is found in sufficient numbers and is distributed widely enough that currently the threat of extinction is low (CNPS 2001). C. pinetorum is found in lower montane coniferous forest, subalpine coniferous forest and upper montane coniferous forest on rocky granitic soils between 1600 and 2745 meters in elevation (CNPS 2001 and Hickman 1993).
