Fairly wide distribution in California and presumably also high abundance (it is not a sensitive species in California). One variety of this species (var. Jonesii) also occurs in Utah.
Range Extent Comments
Southeast Utah: Emery, Garfield, Grand, and Kane Counties. North central Arizona: Mohave County. Northern Caifornia: counties unavailable.
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Utah: Eriogonum-ephedra, mixed desert shrub, and juniper communities at 1340 to 1830 m, in gypsiferious, saline soils of the Cutler, Summerville and Chinle formations. Arizona: Identical to that of Utah, formation unknown. California: Talus, loose gravel or sand, dry ground in pine forests (ponderosa pine) and chaparral at 1200 to 2800 m.
