Western Oregon and northern California. Its southern extent is from California in Nevada Co. to Tillamook Co. Oregon at its northern reaches; also in Oregon in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Josephine, Lane and Lincoln Counties. Disjunct in the Sierra Nevada of California.

Habitat destruction by humans e.g. mining, logging, road construction, development, ORV use, draining of wetlands. Collecting for horticultural trade (domestically and internationally).
