Endemic to California, Eriastrum hooveri is known from over fifty occurrences in seven counties. Two occurrences are protected by The Nature Conservancy, two occur in state managed areas and part of one occurrence is on land owned by the Bureau of Land Management. This plant is threatened by agriculture, grazing, urbanization, energy development, proposed reservoir development, and vehicle activity.
Range Extent Comments
Endemic to California, is known from Fresno, King, Kern, Santa Barbara, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, and Tulare Counties (Skinner 1997).
Occurrences Comments
Known from over fifty occurrences (Morse 1993). Known from 130 occurrences, twelve of which have been extirpated (Fish and Wildlife Service 1990).
Threat Impact Comments
Threatened by agriculture, grazing, urbanization, energy development, proposed reservoir development, and vehicles (Skinner 1997 and Fish and Wildlife Service 1990).

Chenopod scrub, pinyon and juniper woodland, valley and foothill grassland (Skinner 1997).
