Rank Reasons
Erigeron flabellifolius occurs in the Absaroka and Beartooth Ranges in southwestern Montana and northwestern Wyoming. In Wyoming, the species is known from eighteen to twenty extant occurrences, nearly all of which are in wilderness areas or high elevation sites with few threats. A large colony is found along the Beartooth Highway in northern Wyoming, but it seems secure despite high human recreation and vehicle traffic. Populations of this plant may be locally abundant.
Range Extent Comments
Regional endemic of SW Montana and NW Wyoming.
Occurrences Comments
In Wyoming, known from 18-20 extant occurrences (Walt Fertig, personal communication 1999).
Threat Impact Comments
Nearly all of the Wyoming populations are in wilderness areas or high elevation sites with few threats. A large colony is found along the Beartooth Highway in northern Wyoming, but it seems secure despite high human recreation and vehicle traffic (Walt Fertig, personal communication 1999).
