Rank Reasons
The range for this species is limited to a small portion of southern Oregon and adjacent northern California. Threats appear to be minimal, but Oregon's largest population on Mt. Ashland is potentially threatened by the expansion of a ski recreation area.
Range Extent Comments
This species is found in Trinity and Siskiyou Counties of northern California and Jackson and Josephine Counties of southern Oregon.
Occurrences Comments
In Oregon, five occurrences have been reported. California Natural Diversity Data Base does not actively track this species but has assigned an in-state grade of "C" (21-100 occurrences).
Threat Impact Comments
Oregon's largest population is on Mt. Ashland, where a ski development is located. Expansion may pose a threat for this particular population. No major threats have been noted for the California sites.
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

This species is found in open alpine herblands on granitic soils within Shasta red fir-mountain hemlock (Abies magnifica var. shasta-Tsuga mertensiana) forest associations. In the Jepson Flora (1993), they describe the soils as serpentine though the Oregon sighting reports only mention granitics.
