There are at least 17 occurrences globally, some with many thousands of plants. Invasion of cheat grass (Bromus tectorum) is reported as a threat to this species.
Range Extent Comments
This species is known from Moffat County, Colorado (CNHP 1998), and in Duchesne, Emery, and Uintah counties, Utah (Welsh et al. 1993).
Occurrences Comments
Eleven occurrences are reported from Colorado (CNHP 1998). It is estimated that there are 6-20 occurrences in Utah based on the state rank of S2.
Threat Impact Comments
Invasion of cheat grass (Bromus tectorum) is reported as a threat (CNHP 1998).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

This species occurs on gravel and/or clay flats and slopes, sagebrush and saltbush communities, as well as pinyon and/or juniper woodlands at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 2,300 meters (Reveal, 2020).
