The species is noted as being common the Queen Charlotte Islands but it is rare on N. Vancouver Island and the north coastal mainland of British Columbia (Douglas et al. 1999).

Moist to mesic meadows or grassy slopes, talus slopes in the mountains in the subalpine and alpine zones (Douglas et al. 1999).
