Hackelia sharsmithii is a perennial herb of the western United States that is found in the southern High Sierra Nevada and north-central Nevada. There are around 30 occurrences that are in remote areas on public lands where they are largely protected. However, climate change is a potential threat.

Hackelia sharsmithii occurs in the western United States in the southern High Sierra Nevada of California (Fresno, Inyo, and Tulare Counties) and central Nevada (Lander and Nye Counties) (Baldwin et al. 2012).
Occurrences Comments
This species is known from around 30 occurrences, most of which are in California.
Threat Impact Comments
This species occurs in remote areas, and there is not much that threatens it except some trail use. Changes in climate may be a threat.

Habitat

This species occurs in rocky, typically granitic, substrates of alpine boulder and rock fields, talus slopes and in the crevices of cliffs in subalpine coniferous forest at elevations of 3,150 to 3,700 m (Skinner 1997, Jepson Flora Project 2017).
