Taxonomic Comments
The name Hieracium greenei (for a plant of California and Oregon) is sometimes confused with the name Hieracium greenii, which refers to a plant that occurs in the Appalachian region and is a separate, distinct entity. The Appalachian plant is also sometimes called H. trailii.

Siskiyou region of southern Oregon and northern California, extending as far south as Lake County, California, and east to Mt. Lassenand and Mt. Shasta; north to Crater Lake National Park, Oregon.

Habitat

Moderate to high elevation on barren outcrops of broken rock and talus in Klamath and Siskiyou Mountains, on serpentine, granite & basalt; 900-2750 m.
