Taxonomic Comments
This record represents the narrow concept of Lomatium bicolor following FNA (vol. 13, 2024) which is equivalent to L. bicolor var. bicolor. In contrast, FNA (vol. 13, 2024) recognizes L. bicolor (=L. bicolor var. bicolor) and L. leptocapum (=L. bicolor var. leptocarpum) as distinct species.

This subspecies is known from Idaho, Utah, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming. There are more than 13 occurrences in Montana and one in Colorado, but precise occurrence information from the rest of states in the range was not available.
Range Extent Comments
Variety bicolor is a regional endemic of northern Utah, southeastern Idaho and southwestern Wyoming (Schlessman 1982), Gunnison County, Colorado (CNHP 1998), and Montana.
Occurrences Comments
There is only one historical (1938) occurrence known from Colorado, this occurrence may actually be Lomatium bicolor var. leptocarpum (CNHP 1998). There are more than 13 occurrences in Montana (MNHP 1998). The number of occurrences in Wyoming, Utah and Idaho is unknown.
