Range Extent Comments
California east of Sierra Nevada and northern Mojave Desert (Hickman 1993). Reported from Oregon but distribution there unknown.
Occurrences Comments
Hickman (1993) calls Lupinus magnificus "rare." All three varieties are listed in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Vascular Plants and the typical variety is reported to be known from approximately ten, mostly historical, occurrences (Skinner et al. 1994).
