Taxonomic Comments
This record is for the narrow treatment of Lupinus sulphureus as recognized in Kartesz (1994, 1999) which excludes L. mollis and L. bingenensis (with var. dubius, var. bingenensis, and var. subsaccatus as accepted varieties) as distinct species. The treatment in FNA (2023, vol. 11) includes these in the synonymy of L. sulphureus var. bingenensis. L. sulphureus var. sulphureus as treated in FNA appears to be equivalent to this narrow concept of L. sulphureus. The treatment in Kartesz (1994, 1999) also excludes L. sulphureus var. kincaidii as a variety of L. oreganus.
