Confined to open, moist montane habitats from Idaho and Wyoming. Infrequent in one mountain chain in Montana.
Range Extent Comments
Southern Bitteroot Mountains in Montana (Lackschewitz 1991); northern and central Wyoming (Dorn 1988); northern Idaho (Davis 1952). Report from Southwest Alberta (Argus and White 1978) is in error - likely based on specimen CAN288334. Specimen annotated to Saxifraga oregana var montanensis by Packer, 1980.

Habitat

Wet areas in the mountains (Dorn 1988). Ledges and permanently moist meadows in subalpine and timberline zones (Lackschewitz 1991; data for Saxifraga oregana var. subapetala).
