Regionally endemic to the Coastal Plain from Virginia south through most of Florida and west to southern Alabama. Rare in Alabama, but described as common in central Florida by Wunderlin (1982). Abundance elsewhere is unknown.

Habitat

Pine savannahs and flatwoods, seepage bogs on pineland slopes, borders of cypress-gum ponds, exposed shores of sinkhole ponds, and sometimes open, well-drained woodlands (Godfrey and Wooten 1981).
