Saltugilia latimeri is endemic to California. It is known primarily from San Bernardino and Riverside counties with outlier populations in Kern and Inyo counties. There are 60 occurrences known of this species. It occurs on dry, desert slopes of coarse sandy to rocky soils and is known from elevations between 400 and 1900 m. It flowers from April to early June. Threats include ORVs, recreation (target shooting), dumping, and grazing.
