Endemic to Colorado Plateau and locally common in two southern Nevada counties. Favors cool desert shrub and pinyon-juniper communities according to Welsh et al. (1993); and a variety of sand and clay soil types (Kartesz 1988). Abundance outside Nevada unknown.
Range Extent Comments
Found in Lincoln and Clark counties of Nevada (Kartesz 1988). Utah: Beaver, Emery, Garfield, Grand, Kane, Millard, San Juan, Washington, and Wayne counties. Arizona and New Mexico (Kartesz 1995). A Colorado Plateau endemic (Welsh et al. 1993).
Occurrences Comments
30 sites in Utah (Albee et al. 1988).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Red and sandy soil in gravelly washes to clay flats and gypsum sands; 400-1130 meters (Kartesz 1988). Salt and cool desert shrub and pinyon-juniper communities at 900-2100 meters (Welsh et al. 1993).
