Restricted to northeastern Oregon, southeastern Washington, and adjacent Idaho; occurring in moist meadows or prairie remnants (Isely 1998). Primarily threatened by livestock that trample and graze plants. About 60 extant occurrences and an additional 20 historic occurrences.

Eighty occurrences documented but twenty of those are historic and mostly based on herbarium specimens that could not be located.
Threat Impact Comments
Loss of habitat through conversion of land for agriculture and habitat degradation through livestock grazing. About a third of the occurrences are in cattle or sheep allotments on National Forest Land.
