Hartman, R.L. 2000. A new species of Cymopterus (Apiaceae) from the Rocky Mountain region, U.S.A. Brittonia 52(2): 136-141.
Taxonomic Comments
In the description of Cymopterus constancei as a distinct species, Hartman (2000) says it "has been confused with C. bulbosus A. Nelson but differs in several features of its bractlets, phenology, and habitat." Both species were transferred to the genus Vesper by Hartman and Nesom (2012).

Rank Reasons
Restricted to the Rocky Mountain region where it occurs in grasslands, sagebrush-grasslands, and woodlands (Harman 2000). Fairly abundant in Wyoming (Fertig 2000). More information is needed from the rest of its range.
Range Extent Comments
Ranges from north-central Wyoming south through much of the West Slope of Colorado and to some extent east of the Continental Divide, in the northwestern quarter of New Mexico and extreme southern Lincoln County; it also occurs in eastern Utah and in extreme eastern Arizona; with further survey, may be found to range into Montana, Texas, and Mexico. (Hartman 2000).
Occurrences Comments
May be undersampled due to its early Spring phenology.
