Taxonomic CommentsEsslinger (2018) transfers Lecanora novomexicana to Rhizoplaca novomexicana; these represent the same concept for the element. According to Esslinger & Egan (1995) and subsequent checklists, the related taxon Lecanora thomsonii is considered synonymous with Lecanora novomexicana. Although there is an error on the 1995 checklist listing L. thomsonii both on the list of species within the genus Lecanora as well as on the synonym list (T. Esslinger, pers. comm. 2011)
