Mayden (2010) redescribed E. punctulatum and described two new species (E. autumnale and E. mihileze) that formerly were included in E. punctulatum.

Range Extent Comments
Range includes the White River drainage and tributaries and the upper Current and Eleven Point rivers, Missouri and Arkansas, and the Little Red River in Arkansas; this species is most abundant in the White River drainage, Missouri and Arkansas; it is rare and known from only a few collections in the Little Red, Current, and Eleven Point rivers (Mayden 2010).

Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Habitat includes small headwater creeks with clear, cool, flowing and percolating water and with a gravel and cobble stone substrate, frequently in the coarse stream substratum between stones and in association with emergent and submergent aquatic vegetation and organic debris; also frequently associated with undercut banks with overhanging rooted vegetation (Mayden 2010).
