Taxonomic CommentsThis species has been placed in genus Okkelbergia by some authors; usually Okkelbergia is recognized as a subgenus of Lampetra. Lampetra aepyptera includes L. meridionale, which was treated as a questionably distinct species by Lee et al. (1980), but which was not recognized by Page and Burr (1991) nor in the 1980 and 1991 AFS checklists (Robins et al. 1980, 1991).
