Taxonomic Comments
Kartesz (1994, 1999) recognized Mimulus dentilobus in a broad sense, including M. parvula. In contrast, Flora of North America Editorial Committee (2019) considers Erythranthe dentiloba to be endemic to Mexico. "All monkeyflowers with laciniate-lobed corollas have generally been identified as Mimulus dentilobus but these occur as three, morphologically distinct, widely allopatric population systems, each of which is regarded as a separate species (Nesom 2012)". Flora of North America Editorial Committee (2019) recognizes Erythranthe parvula, Erythranthe chinatiensis, and Erythranthe dentiloba (endemic to Mexico) as distinct species.
