Taxonomic Comments
Although Arizona was omitted from the range in Correll and Correll (1972) versus Correll and Johnston (1970), this species is considered to occur there (e.g., Kartesz 1999; cf. this database for ssp. hinkleyi).

Rank Reasons
Polemonium pauciflorum has been reported to occur in Mexico (Chihuahua and Nuevo Leon), and in the U.S. in western Texas (Davis Mountains) and southeastern Arizona (Cochise County). The species has been considered to be comprised of two subspecies, with at least subsp. hinkleyi being rare.
