Rank Reasons
Blue Mountain Prairie-clover (Dalea ornata) is known from the Great Basin, including southwestern Idaho, Oregon east of the Cascades, to southeastern Washington, Nevada and northeastern California. It is estimated that there are between 81 and 300 occurrences rangewide, and over 100,000 plants. Threats include grazing and invasive exotic plants, including cheatgrass and medusahead.
Range Extent Comments
Blue Mountain Prairie-clover (Dalea ornata) occurs in the Great Basin of the western United States. It occurs from southwestern Idaho, and Oregon east of the Cascades, to southeastern Washington, Nevada, and northeastern California. In California, it occurs in Lassen County, northwest of Shaffer Mountain (Skinner 1997). Range extent was estimated to be 400,000 square kilometers using herbarium specimens, photo-based observations, and NatureServe Network occurrence data collected between 1982 and 2023 (CNDDB 2023, GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023, Kartesz 1988, SEINet 2023).
Occurrences Comments
By applying a 1 km separation distance to herbarium specimens, photo-based observations, and NatureServe Network occurrence data documented between 1982 and 2023, it is estimated that there are between 81 and 300 occurrences rangewide (CNDDB 2023, GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023, SEINet 2023).
Threat Impact Comments
There are threat impacts to Blue Mountain Prairie-clover from grazing and invasive exotic plants, including cheatgrass and medusahead (CNDDB 2023).
