Range is limited to central Nevada, north as far as southeastern Oregon and adjacent southwestern Idaho, and west only as far as extreme northeastern California (where it is uncommon).
Range Extent Comments
Central Nevada (Toiyabe Mountains) to northeastern California (Warner Mountains), central and southeastern Oregon (Steens and Ochoco mountains), and southwestern Idaho (Owyee County; Cronquist et al. 1984).
Occurrences Comments
Distribution statement in Intermountain Flora (Cronquist et al. 1984) suggests hundreds of occurrences (Jim Morefield pers. comm. 1/98).

Habitat

Streamsides, dry drainage-bottoms, wooded slopes, dry meadows, in mountains with Artemisia and Symphoricarpos; <2500 m.
