Mertensia longiflora is a vernal herb of mountains and valleys that occurs from British Columbia south to northern California and east to Montana and Idaho. It is especially well documented in Washington state. There are no major declines reported or significant rangewide threats.
Range Extent Comments
Mertensia longiflora occurs in Alberta and British Columbia in Canada and California, Idaho, western Montana, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington in the western U.S.A.
Occurrences Comments
This species is rare in northern California where there are eleven occurrences. There are hundreds of potential occurrences in Washington suggested by herbaria records (CPNWH 2019).
Threat Impact Comments
In California this species is threatened by grazing. Threats throughout the rest of the species range are unknown.
