Ecology & Habitat

Description

This spectacular bright red to magenta Penstemon has widely flaring corolla lobes and glaucous leaves. It is one of only four red Penstemons found in western Colorado. The widely spreading lower lip is unusual in red Penstemons, and provides a landing platform for pollinators (Nold 1999).
