Widespread distribution occurring from Arizona to Missippii south into Mexico. Habitat (dry hills and plains) not restricted in this range.
Range Extent Comments
Mississippi to Arizona and northern Mexico; widespread in Arizona (Kearney and Peebles 1951). Widespread in New Mexico (Martin and Hutchins 1980). Occurs everywhere in Texas except east and southeast, the High Plains and the southernmost Rio Grande Plains (Correll and Johnston 1970). "Waif" in California (Hickman 1993).
