Range Extent CommentsPotamogeton diversifolius occurs in wetlands in the United States, southwestern Canada, and Mexico. In the United States it primarily occurs from Massachusetts to Minnesota south to Kansas, Texas, and Florida, with outlying and scattered populations in South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Arizona, and California, and in southern Alberta and southern British Columbia, Canada. It has been documented in about one third of the states in Mexico. The range extent is about 8.5 million square kilometers (GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023, NatureServe 2023, Villaseñor 2016).
Occurrences CommentsBased on herbarium records, and photo-based observations documented between 1992 and 2023, there are more than 300 occurrences rangewide (GBIF 2023, iNaturalist 2023).
