Calochortus flexuosus is known from the Mojave Desert of eastern California west to southwestern Colorado.
Range Extent Comments
Mojave Desert of Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and California (Kartesz, 1988). Also in New Mexico (Kartesz, 1998). In Colorado, occurs in the Four Corners region (Weber, 1996). In Utah, known from Beaver, Garfield, Kane, Millard, San Juan, and Washington Counties (Welsh, 1993).
Ecology & Habitat

Description

An attractive relative of the more common sego lily, the weak-stemmed mariposa lily varies from white to pink and has wildly contorted stems. Petals have a yellow band at the gland, which is densely covered with short processes and is surrounded by sparse hairs.

Habitat

Dry, rocky sites; 600-1700 m; creosote bush or sagebrush scrub (Hickman, 1993).
