Description

Astragalus proximus is a perennial legume with erect leafy stems and small
purple flowers; the pods are approximately terete in cross section and thick-textured. Fine white
hairs cover the calyx, stem and leaves. Resembles A. flexuosus, a much more common species, but can be distinguished by its smaller (10-15mm), glabrous pods, its stiffer, more erect stems and
in its relatively long and narrow leaflets.
