Rank Reasons
There are more than 100 occurrences documented in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.
Range Extent Comments
Regional endemic of central and southern Wyoming and adjacent Utah, Idaho, and Colorado.
Occurrences Comments
Over 120 total element occurrences, probably 20 or more of those are historical. This species is secure in Wyoming. Based on Rocky Mountain Herbarium records, there are at least 80 extant occurrences in Wyoming and 17 historical records. Populations may be locally abundant and the total state population probably numbers in the hundreds of thousands (WYNDD 1998). Twelve occurrences are documented from Colorado between 1972 and 1983. All of these are from Moffat County except one from Rio Blanco, which may be a questionable identification (CNHP 1998). The UTHP (1998) reports 14 occurrences, the most recent being from 1983. Two of these include only general directions.
Threat Impact Comments
Threats are unknown in Colorado (CNHP 1998).
Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Populations are usually restricted to rocky or chalky ridgetops in cushion plant communities (WYNDD 1998). Forb-grass, pinyon-juniper, mountain brush, limber pine, and spruce-fir forests at 1950 to 3120 meters (Welsh et al. 1993). Adobe soils (Weber and Wittmann 1996).
