Taxonomic Comments
Carex macloviana in the sense of Flora of North America (2002, vol. 23) is different from Kartesz (1999), and it is unclear how these taxonomies relate. Carex macloviana as in Kartesz (1999) is an eastern entity with false reports distributed through some of the west. Flora of North America (2002, vol. 23) shows the same eastern distribution, but also a western distribution through Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and north to Yukon and Alaska. Further, Kartesz (1999) and Flora of North America (2002, vol. 23) are similar in that both treat the following taxa as distinct from C. macloviana: C. microptera, C. pachystachya, C. haydeniana, and C. subfusca.
