Kartesz (1999) and FNA (2002, vol. 23) include Carex eastwoodiana as a synonym of C. tahoensis. In contrast, Kartesz (1994) includes C. eastwoodiana as a synonym of C. phaeocephala.

Habitat

This species occurs in grasslands, sagebrush as well as open, rocky and sandy slopes, subalpine and alpine meadows, at elevations ranging from 600 to 3,700 meters (FNA 2002).
