Taxonomic Comments
This record is for Juncus alpinoarticulatus Chaix, as recognized in Kartesz (1994), which appears to match the treatment of the species in Brooks and Clemants in FNA (2000, vol. 22), Weakley et al. (2025), and Kartesz (1999). Treatments differ in the recognition of subspecies: Brooks and Clemants do not recognize infraspecific divisions, while Weakley et al. (2025) accept ssp. americanus and ssp. fuscescens. Weakley's treatment agrees with POWO's treatment of North American taxa (accessed 2025). Kartesz (1999) accepts ssp. alpestris, reported only (within North America) from Greenland, and a broad ssp. nodulosus (including ssp. americanus and ssp. fuscescens); Kartesz (1994) recognized ssp. alpestris, ssp. americanus, ssp. fuscescens, and ssp. nodulosus.
