Taxonomic CommentsBoechera consanguinea is described as distinct by Windham and Al-Shehbaz (2007a), in which they indicate the taxon was treated as a synonym of A. holboellii var. retrofracta (Graham) Rydberg by Rollins (1993), which is the same treatment followed by Kartesz (1994 and 1999). Morphological evidence suggests that Boechera consanguinea is an apomictic species that arose through hybridization between B. fendleri and B. retrofracta. It is most similar to B. goodrichii, another apomictic hybrid involving B. retrofracta.
