Found on sandy soil in several Colorado Plateau vegetation types in Colorado, New Mexico and Utah. Also reported from Arizona by Kartez (unpublished data 1995). No abundance data available.

New Mexico (San Juan and Rio Arriba Counties) Martin and Hutchins 1980). Utah (Grand and San Juan Counties) Welsh et al. 1993). Southwestern Colorado (Weber 1987), San Miguel, Archuleta, Montezuma, La Plata counties (CU Herbarium 4/99).

Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Data in Welsh et al. (1993) for Lupinus polyphyllus var ammophilus says sagebrush, pinyon-juniper, mountain brush, ponderosa pine, aspen-douglas fir woods; commonly in sandy soils at 1830 to 2745 meters.
