Taxonomic Comments
FNA (vol. 20, 2006) here expands the concept of Petasites frigidus to include P. sagittatus (= P. frigidus var. sagittatus) and P. x vitifolius (= P. fridigus var. x vitifolius) as varieties. Kartesz (1999) also recognizes P. frigidus in this broad sense; Kartesz (1994) treats them as distinct. FNA here recognizes four varieties in total (frigidus, sagittatus, x vitifolius, palmatus).
